Frequently Asked Questions
What makes LiminalWAN different from standard gateways?
Our differentiator is reliability in unreachable areas. We use LinkFusion™ to bond cellular and satellite uplinks, and ClassB-IndoorLock™ to maintain downlink timing even without GPS.
Do I need to buy the hardware?
Not necessarily. We offer both a CAPEX model (purchase hardware) and an OPEX model (Hardware-as-a-Service), which includes the device and the EdgePack™ software subscription.
How does ClassB-IndoorLock™ work?
Standard LoRaWAN Class B requires a GPS lock to synchronize beacons. Our proprietary algorithm synthesizes a high-precision clock source that mimics GPS timing, allowing beacons to fire accurately even in basements or tunnels.
What is included in EdgePack™?
EdgePack™ is our software bundle running on the gateway. It includes the LinkFusion bonding agent, LiminalShield security/VPN, and the container runtime for edge applications.
Can I use my own SIM cards?
Yes. While we can provide managed connectivity, our hardware is carrier-neutral. LinkFusion™ works with any IP-based backhaul connection you provide.
Is FleetPortal™ hosted in the cloud?
Yes, FleetPortal™ is a cloud-native SaaS application. However, for high-security enterprise customers, we offer on-premise deployments.
Do you support pilot programs?
Yes, we offer a "Proof of Value" kit that includes one gateway and a 3-month EdgePack™ license to validate performance in your specific environment.
How does LiminalShield™ improve reliability?
LiminalShield™ uses Forward Error Correction (FEC) and jitter buffering to smooth out packet loss inherent in cellular/satellite connections, ensuring your LoRaWAN frames arrive intact.
